Why have Cryotherapy:
The Milo Clinic understands that while most skin lesions are harmless, they can impact your confidence especially if they are in visible areas.
Lesions like skin tags or warts may also become uncomfortable or even painful depending on their location.
Some people may attempt to remove skin lesions at home now the NHS no longer offers this procedure, this approach can lead to pain, potential complications and visible scarring.
Cryotherapy, when performed by a skilled medical professional offers a safe, effective alternative with significantly lower risks compared to other methods.
Treatment:
At The Milo Clinic, our CryoIQ device precisely targets and destroys unwanted tissue by freezing the intercellular fluid, creating ice crystals that rupture cell membranes and effectively destroy the cell.
This technique ensures there is no damage to surrounding healthy tissue, making it exceptionally accurate and practical for a wide range of lesions.
The cells targeted in cryotherapy sessions will shrivel and eventually die. It typically takes a few weeks for you to enjoy the final result, but this can vary depending on the size and type of the lesion that you want removed.
Any discomfort with CryoPen Therapy is relatively minimal. You will likely experience a slight stinging sensation that lasts no longer than one minute. However, some residual stinging may persist for a minute or two afterwards, which is perfectly natural and to be expected.
How long does the procedure take?
Although procedure times vary depending on the size and depth of the targeted area, applications still only last between one to 50 seconds.
Aftercare:
Before treatment, our medical professional Elisa will review your medical history and discuss any potential risks and expected outcomes with you.
Immediately after the treatment has been applied, you may experience any of the following:
-Redness & slightly raised skin due to the initial inflammation, this is normal and is part of the healing process.
-You may get a small dry scab, please do not pick or scratch the scab. It will eventually fall off by itself.
-Itching may occur, usually within a few minutes of treatment and may last up to an hour.
-Blisters may form and can happen to anyone, this will not affect the outcome of the treatment. Any blisters which do form, may last just a few hours or a few days dependent on the area that has been treated.
Who is not suitable for this treatment:
People with conditions such as collagen and autoimmune disease and rheumatoid arthritis. It is also not suitable for women during pregnancy, nor on areas that have previously been treated with dermal fillers or anti-wrinkle treatment. All of this shall be discussed during your consultation with our medical professional Elisa as other things may arise resulting in you not being able to have this procedure.
